The new Fragrance” Balenciaga Paris is the latest fragrance from Balenciaga. It was introduced as the company’s first scent after establishing partnership with Coty Incorporated last October 2008.

Nicolas Ghesquiere, Balenciaga’s designer, aided in developing Balenciaga Paris and was very detailed with this particular scent. After twelve years of working with it, he believed that it was about time to release this new fragrance.

He worked along with the IFF perfumer, Olivier Polge. Together, they have created an exquisite scent that aspires for a wonderful fragrance, which is reminiscent of floral blossoms and breezes of the lovely days of spring. Charlotte Gainsbourg was launched as the image of Balenciaga Paris as she demonstrates the scent’s unique mixture of style and boldness.

Balenciaga Paris is contained in a translucent bottle that is presented with simplicity as it is covered with a stopper, which greatly reminds you of the conventional vases in the 18th century. Moreover, Balenciaga Paris features a composition of pleasant floral as violet notes are emphasized. You are not left with powdery compositions as violet brings out a scent that entertains delicate, fresh and natural hints. Aside from violets, carnation, cedar and patchouli were also integrated to bring out a wonderful fragrance that everybody would love.

Balenciaga Paris Eau De Parfum is available in 1.7 oz for $95 and 2.5 oz for $130.

Lily Allen no longer the face of Chanel Handbags

Lily Allen has been dropped as the face of Chanel Handbags.

The ‘Not Fair’ singer fronted an advertising campaign for the French fashion house’s Coco Cocoon bag last year but her contract has now expired and won’t be renewed and has been replaced by Vanessa Paradis. A Chanel spokesperson said: “Lily was the face, but now it is Vanessa.” Sources claim Chanel’s designer Karl Lagerfeld wanted to drop Lily because of her reputation as a party girl and didn’t invite her to recent party at the Cannes Film Festival. A source said: “Karl had a show and a party, but Lily was not invited. It was Karl’s way of making it clear she is no longer a part of the Chanel family. He instructed his people not to invite her.  “He is very strict about who can represent the brand and there is a feeling that Lily is too much of a party girl.” Karl is said to have grown tired of Lily’s wild ways especially after she embarrassed herself during a party at his Paris home last year.

The source added: “She got very drunk and had to be taken to the loos to sober up. Karl wasn’t impressed.” Vanessa – who has two children, Lily-Rose, 10, and eight-year-old Jack with partner Johnny Depp – has been the face of Chanel fragrances for the past two years.

Alejandro & Mom, Vintage Photos

I love the idea of the contest, of sharing and being able to see other people’s vintage photos. We tend so much to see fashion as something idealized and this really connects it with people’s lives, it’s great.
This a picture of my mother Willy van Rooy and me in Paris, I’m guessing the year must be 1970 or 71 at the most (I was born in 68). Apart from being an iconic model in the 60′s and 70′s who worked with the best photographers and designers, my mother was, and still is, a person with an amazing and very individual fashion sense (which later in life led her to become a successful fashion and shoe designer). I never remember her following fashion or buying clothes off-the-rack.
What I love about this picture is that it really shows her style, the mix of old-Hollywood glamour (the 30′s vintage coat, the red lips, the short snake-skin jacket), with absolute freedom (the embroidered dress, the hand-made spanish boots, the Ibiza basket, the scarf and the flowing hair). And… don’t I look like the cutest little hippie?
All the best,
Alejandro

Eighteen-year-old Alexis Neiers, an aspiring model and one of the stars of E! Entertainment’s reality program “Pretty Wild” recently pled no contest to felony burglary charges after being accused of stealing expensive swag from the Hollywood home of Lord of the Rings star Orlando Bloom. Neiers, one of three sisters starring in the reality show about her and her sisters’ unconventional upbringing, entered the plea at the urging of her attorney after they discovered that Bloom was willing to testify in the case. As part of the plea deal, she was sentenced to six months in the L.A. County Jail plus three years of probation. She’ll begin serving her sentence at the end of June. Had she been convicted in a trial, she could have had up to six years in a state prison.
Neiers is one of six people accused of stealing valuable items from the homes of several celebrities, including Lindsay Lohan, Rachel Bilson, Paris Hilton, and Bloom. The six are accused of stealing millions of dollars worth of clothing, jewelry, and other high priced luxury items. She told police that she was drunk the night she went to the house and did not take anything. However, a security camera supposedly showed Neiers leaving Bloom’s house carrying “bags,” according to police.
